Thanks NO-AH, was a great winter! Rolled the dang thing a few weeks back and cut the season short! I got a little banged up, but nothing serious. The sled fared way worse than me, I now have something to paint this summer, LOL.
Soft water will be here soon so I have been planning and working on the final details to get it ready to splash. I ordered some aluminum tubing at work and since I have never welded aluminum and am only set up for steel, I had one of the guys at work tig it up for me. The legs are 1" square 1/8" wall and the top is 1-1/2" x 1" x 1/8" wall. I stood on it, 250# doesn't flex it much if at all. I am just waiting for my stainless hardware to come from boltdepot to finish out the lid on the platform. I also plan to trim out the perimeter of the lid with aluminum angle, but wanted to wait to order it so I could see where the slam latches needed to be placed.
I have some 1/8" flat stock attached to the bottoms of the leg hoops so I can screw it down to the deck as seen below.
Fitting the lid and the aluminum hinge, I did not plan on using such a stout hinge, but it was a left over piece hanging around work and was told I could have it. Free is good!
The front panel is attached via aluminum rivnuts. I will probably cover the front panel with vinyl later, I didn't have enough left over from my side panels at this time.
Here's a couple shots of the rivnuts.
I still have a bunch left to do, but the majority of the actual work is out of the way. A little more drilling on the lid and another couple coats of polyurethane and I can get the carpet glued on and instal the thing in the boat for good.
This little project has me thinking I may redo the seat box I made from wood. Probably a next winter project.
