Have a 1996 spectrum/brunswick 24 cruiser DLX
it has a 75hp Force on it
the motor works like a champ even though it has
NEVER been flushed and used in salt water since 1996.
the tilt/trim piston is shot
broke a bolt trying to remove the frame
cannot justify spending ~$1500 and still have
a 1996 Force that might go any day

how does one go about finding out the coast
guard engine size rating for a boat? It was mentioned
if you get a motor too big the insurance doubles
and there are other issues.

Would a 115hp suzuki 4strk or a 115hp yamaha be
too big for a 24' pontoon boat?

thanks for your help!!!

There should be a tag somewhere in the boat that tells you the max HP rating for the boat. The coast guard does not care what size motor you put on it but the other person's insurance company would sure take you to the cleaners.
