Anyone know the differences between these two models??

I am buying a 93 2000brxl from my sister and bro-in-law and was curious of the differences.
I do know that they are both 20' open bows.

Thank-you

Well, I guess it does not matter because we own it. Been on the water everyday off for the last few weeks. She is in great shape and runs perfect. Going to buy some Smart Tabs for her like I did the old boat, only the stainless steel version. I forgot what a difference they made until I drove the Reinell.

Installed some Smart tabs in the stainless steel version. I hope they work as well as the Smart tab SX did on my previous boat. If they do, I will save a ton of fuel everytime I get up on plane.

In case anyone is interested....The Smart Tabs work great for this model boat.

Tested out the top last weekend. I don't think it has been used much.

I was wondering what those tabs do for you. I to live in eastern washington and i bought 1 1996 184brxl last july. I was on the water every weekend until after labor day. I can not wait to get it back out. Where in eastern wa. are you located.

With the heavy V8 motor, my boat bow really rose high while trying to get up on plane. It sucked a lot of gas doing it too.
Now with the Smart Tabs, the bow stays low and it gets on plane much faster. Stays on plane at lower speeds. It eliminated the wandering at non wake speeds also. Saves gas too.

We live in the Tri-Cities. If we are not up in the woods camping and Jeeping, we are out on the river.

Thanx! We love this old boat. It still looks and drives like new. The motor still looks new. My Sis and Bro-in-law took great care of her. Every service done on time and documented. I have been doing the same for almost two years. No problems.

Best thing about this boat? No Payments!:)

Edit: got her all cleaned up and took her out on the first voyage of the season.

Hey!
Just signed up so I can join the conversation.

I've got a 1994 196BRXL, and want to add the smart tabs.
(I should just get a longer ski than my trusty ole 65", but I'm stubborn that way)

At any rate, it looks like we have similar transoms except for where the aft tie down lines attach to the trailer.
I can't help but looking at them and thinking that will interfere with the smart tabs as you have them mounted.
(In fact, I don't even see any tiedowns nor stern eyelets on your boat?)

I've done a lot of reading here, and it appears the newer SX tabs are a no go due to the non-parallel mounting,
but the stainless models like you have will work.
Do you have the 60's or the 80's?

Any other suggestions/help, since we're both dealing with the same mounting issues.
Thanks.

Here's a couple pics of the transom.
It's not entirely flat towards the outboard ends.
How did you get around that? Custom spacer?

This may not be that helpful, I don't know a lot about boats, but we have stainless steel tabs on our 1998 2000rxl and they work great. I have a little trouble getting them set just right. I want to get up fast, but then they need some adjusting after that or they slow the boat down some and I assume create some gas guzzling drag.

Your post is definitely a help.
At the least I know I can fit the tabs on my boat due to the similar transom designs between models.

My tie downs on the boat are directly above the Smart Tab upper mount. I am not sure why they are different than yours. I actually like where yours are better. And yes, the Smart Tabs are in the way to use the straps the way I used to. The trailer tie downs are just inside the tail lights. I don't use those anymore. I tie the boat down to the trailer frame closer to the middle. Only a couple times a year when we go on longer trips out of town. We only live a couple blocks from the ramp, so I usually don't tie down the back.

Re: 1993 196brxl vs. 2000brxl

Thanks for the reply.
I looked at a bunch of your other posts trying to see where you tied the transom down,
and never could come to a conclusion.
Now I know why...
We only live a couple blocks from the ramp, so I usually don't tie down the back.
That must be nice.
We unfortunately have a lot dicier drive shall we say to/from the lake.
Not the least of which is over 1/2 mile of dirt road just to get from the house to the pavement.

Huh...I see you added some pics to an earlier post.
Clean boat!
And a 5.0 Ford to boot!:D
I'm stuck with you know who's 5.0.:(
But, I digress.

Looks like I will have to have another mount installed on the very outside of the trailer if I want to use my existing transom mounts for the tie down straps.
Interesting to see where yours are...
I thought mine were hard to get to when on the water, but where yours are, it looks like you're going to get wet!
(We use them to hold the dog ramp down)

I will have to get some better pics of the transom.
It's the last 4" outboard that really curves in a lot, which looks about where you have yours offset to.
I suppose the best thing is to make the commitment and call Nauticus up to get the ball rolling.
You have the 80lb, correct?

Here's a couple shots of our '94-196BRXL the day I brought her home.

This is the aforementioned "dog ramp" in case you were curious:

By the way;
Did you ever think your thread would still be going after almost 2 years??

Google to the rescue.

Same model/same color/same transom tie downs.
Looks like they had to move the tabs inboard a few inches versus your installation TJDave.
At least I know it can be done now.
Time to place the order.
