I am the original owner and things have worked fine until recently. When I turn the ignition key to the first stop I used to hear a "beep", that's gone and the fuel gauge reads very close to empty. When I turn the key to the first stop, I do see a "slight" movement in the needle. I assume this means the gauge is getting some electrical signal. I don't know if the problem is in the gauge, sending unit or something in the starting switch (since there is no beep).

This just started this June while on a Minn. fishing trip. Also when this problem showed up it was intermittent at first; with the gauge reading 1/2 or 3/4 and then another time "zero".

Anyone know why the "beep" at power-up doesn't work. Is the beep indicative of a switch problem or part of the sending unit circuit?

I had a similar problem with my new Lund Rebel. I took it to the dealer who determined it was a loos ground at the tank. Works great now.
