New to the forum and new to canoes, Craigslist find Grumman 76-C-3-13 Bethpage NY emblem. So far from what I have read pre-1952 any other input about 2 digit serial number ?
The "C" in the serial number is a date code, "A" is 1946 "B" is 1947 "C" is 1948 and on till at least "G" 1952. So my canoe is number 76 produced in 1948.
From what I have learned so that others may benefit: In the case of my ID plate 76-C-3-13, the 76 is production number, C is a date code 1948, 3 represents 30 mils thick, 13 is 13ft in length. Decode your vintage Grumman ID plate accordingly.
