Wow. I get to be the first to post here. Here's my first boat. I bought it about 10 years ago. 1958 17 ft Glass Magic With a 1968 Johnson 85 HP.

I named it Water Witch. My current Glastron is named Water Witch 2 which explains my name here.

PS. Dont laugh at the large radar. It was free and it worked.

Re: 1958 Glass Magic

wow...I'm in on this a couple years after the original post, haha.

I just picked up a 1968 Glass Magic 14' runabout. It came with a 1959 Evinrude 35hp Lark motor, which I took off and now has a 1975 Johnson 40hp.

That's a pretty cool looking boat you've got there!

Re: 1958 Glass Magic

My Dad and a friend of his both bought Glass Magics at the Chicago Boat Show in "58". This is a picture of me on the right with the son and daughter of our family friends. We are on the Missouri River by Omaha. Their boat was the same model except it was red. Our previous boat was a 14' Yellow Jacket and we really thought this was a step-up.

Here are a few pictures of mine (1968)(White/Teal) and my father-in-laws 1959 Duracraft (white/red).

Mine is a 'work in progress', heh.

I've got a curved windsheild that I'm putting on this spring.

I'm on the Missouri River every other weekend or so. But I'm on the river down here in Kansas City...it's a completely different story between Omaha and KC. Omaha is actually nice. KC has a bunch of debris, and isnt kept as nice as it is in Omaha.

I still boat on the Missouri, I've got it running in my veins. I keep mine at Decatur it's too busy around Omaha, not like the days when I was a kid and everyone knew each other. The river up here is great.

Mark, that brings back old memories, it looks just like our old Glass Magic. If the running lights were up at front of the bow that would do it. Great looking boat.

Re: 1958 Glass Magic

Just inherited my grandfathers 1959 Glass Magic...she has ALOT of work, but the motor is a newer 60hp Evinrude and she floats. I am now removing all the hardware, destroyed bumper roll, and all the impromptu fishing rod holders he put EVERYWHERE on it! No windshield, but I am hoping to find one somewhere.

She ran last year but has been neglected the past 50! Gotta love a fishin' man!

Instead of hot rod to rebuild my wife said "this is better", little does she know that I intend on making this one look like the classic she once was.

I really would like to paint the lower half a wood tone complete with fake plank lines to mimmick a Chris Craft nostalgia, but with a newer deck paint/design and interior for fun.

Any thoughts or recommendations welcome!
Thanks!
