I'm interested in adding a 4" Hydraulic Jack Plate to my new Eagle 175 bass boat with a 90 hp Yamaha. I fish in shallow Wisconsin waters and I'm looking to raise the engine some when not on plane. When asked, G3 had this to say "All of our boat designs are tested and approved each year to meet or exceed all U.S. Coast Guard, ABYC and NMMA regulations. We simply cannot advise this aftermarket installation, as any departure from these approved designs could compromise the standards set by these organizations." That's a safe corporate answer and in the same place I would say the same thing. But really, with so many fiberglass boats out there with jack plates why not add one to an aluminum boat too?
When I asked a well known Jack Plate manufacturer, they thought it would be fine.
I have looked on-line and have not seen anything around the topic of adding a jack plate to any aluminum boat let alone a G3 Eagle.
Again, my primary concern is prop and engine damage from shallow running but I'll take a few more MPH if this were to improve performance.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
