I have a 1990 Monticello with twin 4.3L mercs. I used it all last summer (75hrs) without any real issues, but my shift cables are very sticky and I have a hard time making small adjustments, particularly when trying to de-throttle. I was thinking the cables need to be replaced. Before doing that 1) are there adjustments that can be made first before replacing and 2) if I do decide to replace them, is this a DIY job? (I have some experience in DIY with boats)

Thanks everyone
Tim

If you could explain this a bit more so we understand what small adjustments mean?

Yes depending on what is needed

2) if I do decide to replace them, is this a DIY job?

Yes folks do it all the time
