2008 Crownline 240LS with Merc

New to me 2008 Crownline 240-LS with 5.7 L motor Mercruiser outdrive. Speedometer does not work. I am used to the white fin type that hangs down below the boat and as the boat goes faster it is pushed back and registers your speed. Cannot see on this boat what activates the speedometer. Where should I start looking? Any help would be appreciated.

I recently bought a 97 182BR with a Merc and my speedo did not work either. There is a tube (white in color I think) in the outdrive that has a quick disconnect fitting to join the tube sections. Check to see if this fitting is separated. I could see mine and reconnect it with the boat on the trailer and the outdrive in the "trailer" position.

Unfortunately, I think it disconnected again, so I will be putting some hot glue on it or fastening the connector together somehow.
