I just put in new hot spark brand ignition conversion for a mallory distributor non- vacuum in my '78 Cobalt 18 footer which has a 305 mercruiser. Easy conversion. Got it timed tonite was running good. Had it hooked up to a water hose for cooling under the carport. Its been really hot here in Indiana- anyway the motor got a little hot smoke out the outdrive my wife said. Shut it off now it wont' start. Guess I'll wait til morning and see it fires.. Thinking the solenoid may be breaking down on voltage to the coil when the engines hot ? Your thoughts are appreciated... Oh and I did replace the coil with the recommended one for the Hot Spark ignition.
