I recently purchased an '04 210 ssi with the 5.0 liter V8 and a 21p aluminum prop. At full throttle, 2 adults and 2 kids in the boat, I'm at 3800 rpm and approximately 43mph. I would have expected more top end out of this boat! Also, it does not come out of the hole like I would have anticipated. Any feedback?

Check your tach first. It should go faster than that, but not by as much as you think. Which 5.0 is it? The 220hp carbureted model or the 260hp MPI? Is that speed from the speedo or GPS?

I've got the 5.0 fuel injected...think I should be running in 4400-5000 range...maybe I need to change to a different pitch prop.

Not exactly the same boat, but Probably close, my Monterey 214 FS with the exact same 5.0 MPI and 21 prop hits about 4900RPM and about 55mph according to the speedo. It is a bit sluggish out of the hole compared to my Tahoe with a 5.7 carbed Mercruiser. Hope that helps. My father has the 190hp in a Tahoe 215 deck boat and his will do 43mph, so, honestly it sounds like maybe something is wrong.

Unless your tach and your speedo are wrong?

Unless someone monkeyed with the gear ratio, or you boat above 5000ft, that FI 5.0 should spin a 21p prop just fine. You sure it's a 21? You sure your tach is right? You sure your speed is accurate? You sure the motor is running properly?
