Hi, I am very new to boating and bought myself a 1985 celebrity boat. I am having a looseness issue with the steering. I have made sure that the cable is tight to the onboard engine. My steering wheel seems to be as tight as possible. I took the boat out one time and steering was horrible. I need help knowing what I can do to see what is wrong short of bringing to a marina. Money is tight being that I am about to get married in three weeks. when the engine is straight with the boat the steering wheel offers lots of wiggle room but will turn engine after you turn the steering wheel enough. Again steering is present just really loose. Any help?
