1982 celebrity 350 cdi 260 hp

Have lost fire on #5 and #7 plug sense then have replace cap,wires & Plug and still no luck. There is no spark from plug no matter what I do. Some one told me that the wire from starter to coil may be shorting out causing the lost of spark on one or more clyinders. The wire are all in a loom and taped up is there any way to trouble shoot this. Thanks

You said you replaces the wires.
So 1st, double or triple check the firing order.

1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2

If that's ok

remove the cap and try to move the main distribtor shaft side to side..should be very little side movement...IF there is movement, the distributor bushing are worn out..replace distributor..

the pick up coil could be defective ..maybe from worn distributor bushing???
