HI great site, I just purchased my first boat, 1989 18' Celebrity BR with the 4.3 eng and the Mercruser out drive. It gets hot (180-210 deg) during idel or crusing though the canals but as soon as I get her going again, the temp quickly goes to 140 deg. I was told to flush out the engine before I get into replacing the impleller. Two questions, has any had this done and how tough is it to replace the impleller?

Thank you in advanced for you time.

Re: Engine getting warm,

I imagine you solved your heating up issue by now.
I have an 89 224se with a Merc 350 that has same issues.
I have a mechanic who winterizes for me(in my driveway) and comes to get it going in the spring. He now replaces the impeller every other spring.
I avg 100 hrs a year and they lose their ability to move the water. Its like a little rubber bladed fan and loses integrity.
Doing in the spring instead of winter allows fresher rubber blades.
Awesome Boat!!
