Just wanted to share the work I did with other and your thoughts of workmanship;)
1988 Blue fin Super hawk modified.
50hp Force
Shoreline roller trailer
Minn kota Power drive V2 55lbs 54"shaft, will be doing an I-pilot mod on my V2
2 deep cycle batteries in back for controls etc
1 deep cycle up front for the trolling motor
1 depth finder console and I will place a sonar up front soon.
Still have some little misc. items to do.

Replaced the floor with new wood, painted, rebuilt console, rewired, new alum hatch doors on front casting deck, new flotation foam under neath went to Menards for the pink stuff and new carpet. Still have to carpet the top sides and bow on a later date. 1 new bilge pump and 1 new live well pump. Made a modified rear casting deck with a 19 gallon permanent moeller fuel tank under neath with fuel gage in console. Modified fuel filling in back of casting deck. Storage in back. Center storage in middle of console floor. New seats and plug in pedestals. Stored in garage. Motor well maintained. Spent roughly 1800.00 for this update.

Later this winter I plan on making the rear casting deck out of aluminum with aluminum casting deck floor and the sides with aluminum. Console redone with aluminum to lighten things up. May do the lower main floor out of aluminum with snap in carpet. That's if I don't sell it next year. I really enjoy modifying boats and make them look nice inside and out.

Some before and after pics.

Very nice job. I have the same year and model boat with the same engine. I like how you moved the seat bases around and moved one up by the operator so someone can ride beside you instead of riding behind you. Where did you get your carpet from and what kind did you buy? My wood is soft around the livewell and will have to be replaced one day.. I always have water in my livewell and cant remove it as it doesn't pump out. How did you get the livewell out as there are no screws visible to remove.

Re: Completion of 1988 Blue fin superhawk renivation.

Hi thank you for your response. I found marine carpet at fleet farm 6'x21' for 60.00 on clearance. I'm certain someone ordered it and didn't pick it up. I'm not certain on the quality of the carpet but I will soon find out in the near future. As for the live well I replace the doors with aluminum hatches and painted both sides of the casting deck with marine bottom paint from menards. I will see how well it holds up. The live well tank was not attached to anything when I tore it apart. I made some aluminum angle brackets the length of the livewell to sandwich the tank lip above on the speaker end. The seat end already had a lip that the tank lip sat on. I used 3/16" x 1/2" rivets to hold everything in place. I also placed a painted 3/4" piece of plywood bellow to help hold the weight of the water in the live well tank. I also sandwiched a rubber seal around the perimeter in between the live well and casting platform so water doesn't splash out between the casting deck platform and the tank. I painted the heck out the area where the water will splash under the casting deck and live well door. Hopefully that will stay in tacked for several years till I go aluminum casting deck floors. Let me see if I have some pics of this area. I hope this info will help you.

The foam I used. Probably not the proper floatation but I dont plan on sinking it. Hopefully my full coverage ins will help me out if it happens. Accidents do happen;)

See if this pic helps out a bit better with out the carpet in front. For the live well mounting. I tugged and pulled on it and it seemed very strong in its position. I could have used some angled aluminum on the sides but decided to go with out due to the strength as it sits.

One more thing do you have a drain that goes to the bottom and out the side of the boat like this pick. on the right side of the battery. If not throw a removable bilge pump in there to suck out the water. Make quick power connector as you would for a trolling motor. Get a long bilge pump hose and hang it out the side of the boat to pump out the water from the live well tank if you dont feel comfortable making a hole on the side of your boat. I wouldn't leave that water in there due to moister inside. In Minnesota the DNR would give us a fine for not draining the lake water out of the boat. Its a huge thing for invasive species. Dont wanna pass on other lake water to another lake water with infestation.

Re: Completion of 1988 Blue fin superhawk renivation.

Wildman- thanks for all the great pictures and information as it really helps others to see how you did it. I always have water in my live well even when its in my yard. I bail it out and it always returns. The pump doesnt work so I plan on replacing it. From your photos it looks like the hose runs from the live well to the rear next to the battery's. I do have the hole on the side like your boat so I guess thats where it drains to. I bought the boat late last year and only had it out twice before the impeller went out and i had to have it replaced so I really didn't get much of a chance to get to know how the boat operated. The Force 50HP seems to run well and gets it up to around 28MPH. After buying this boat and reading all the negative posts on the Bluefin and the Force motors I was starting to doubt it. After seeing how nice your boat turned out it gives me hope. Mine is in pretty good shape except for the soft spot by the livewell and the seats and carpet have seen better days. I think later this year I will tear out the floor and replace it using your pictures as a guide. From what I can tell by your pictures the structure seems to be pretty good and your new plywood floor will strengthen it. Your work on the boat is 1st class and should make this boat good for many years. Congratulations on a job well done.

wildman_wilds,

When installing the gas tank, what is your method for mixing gas and oil? Do you just dump the oil down before you fill it up? Have the same boat and am looking at your upgrades and I'm a big fan!
