I have a 96 Bayliner Capri with a force 90 outboard that recently burnt up lower unit.. I am trying to exceed the hp max that the hull calls for with a Johnson 140hp.. the boat calls for 120hp max but I have a sweet Johnson that runs superb and want to swap. ? What kind of complications or safety hazards am I going to be getting into. The stern is very strong and solid and I feel like it would be OK but theres always the .1% in the back of your mind that something terribly wrong could happen. . If anyone has anything for me similar or any info I would greatly appreciate it. I'm ready to swap out as soon as I get the go ahead. . Thanks alott.. Drew..

Depends on the weight difference I suppose. If it were me I'd reinforce transom a little with a thick aluminum plate, and don't run it WOT.
3/4 throttle should be about 120hp right? Lol

IMO, overpower is never a good decision.

In many places it might be illegal.

No one will recommend overpowering a boat. The capacity plate is based on federal regulations and enforced by local laws
