My dad bought this boat new in '54. Now I'm getting it ready for the grandson to learn fishing.
The outside wood part of the transom was almost gone. I have it pulled off and will replace it with some new red oak. My question is there was what appears to be an old gasket under the wood. Was this rubber? it's is so old and brittle it's really hard to tell what it was. I guess it could have been some sort of gasket material.
Ideas anyone?
