Call or e-mail your info to Sue Prax at Alumacraft. She can help and give you much more information about your boat.

Phone 507-931-1050 or on the Alumacraft web site, Contact Information page, you can e-mail.

Photos can't be done as attachments.

You can provide a link to a host site, or you can post them here. But the photos must be hosted on the web first.
Try a sire like imagestation or photobucket.

Re: Age This Boat

Thanks for the Pictures.

Your boat looks interesting. Different than what I expected. The intersection of the bottom and the sides (chine) are not rounded and the upper edge of the boat's side (gunwale) doesn't look rounded, like what I would expect to see on a Alumacraft of that vintage. Also I've never seen the Alumacraft label on the bow casting before. I don't know all the different details of the models. So if you find information about your boat with the stamped model - serial number, if you would, let us know.

If you could, a rear picture of the back outside of the boat (transom) would show me more.

Re: Age This Boat

This is interesting.

I don't think it's a Alumacraft. It doesn't have the style of a Alumacraft boat that I've ever seen before. Along with the differences I posted above, the bottom edge of the transom is square instead of round, the oarlock brackets are mounted on the gunwale instead of the sides and it doesn't have hull runners on the outside bottom of the boat. It does have similar seats though.

There isn't any wood on the transom, for strength and to give it thickness to mount a motor, unless it was removed? Maybe someone just put a Alumacraft tag on the bow casting? You say you are working on the boat.

Only the manufacturer would be able to relate information on the brace stampings. All I can say is to call or email Sue Prax at Alumacraft and give your information. Phone 507-931-1050 or on the Alumactaft web site, Contact Information page, you can email. If no success at Alumacraft, maybe post what you have on the Boat Topics and Questions forum. More members will see the boat and maybe can give help.

Re: Age This Boat

Mictn42, there's a post from another B owner, Jamie Lunsford, over on the fiberglassics.com site. Go to their Aluminum forum. He posted pics of his also.

Re: Age This Boat

Mic..... Thanks for the info and congratulations on your boat! A rare vintage! After all the years and it's in very good shape. There is always much to learn. I know you will take good care of it and enjoy! If you would, keep us informed.

I'm wondering if there is boat flotation in the seats or if they're air sealed.

The 1946 B was the first year / model, seeing the one on fiberglassics. Thank you, BoatBuoy.

The Seats are Sealed and i sure wish my Boat had not been painted i looked at the one Jamie lundsford showed pictures of and man i do like the silver aluminum finish.
Did I mention that my boat also had two aluminum ores with it if anyone has any pictures of old ores like mine i sould would be interested in seeing what the handles looked like as the wood part of mine have long ago rotted out of the ores

Re: Age This Boat

Thanks for the seat info. Now I know AlumaCraft sealed their seats from the beginning.

After all the years, your so lucky that your boat is in excellent condition. Just to survive the time or not being ruined by altering is amazing. For me, these boats always look best if kept like original.

The paint can be removed, but I'm not experienced on the ways to do it and with the different types of paint. Chemical removal is ideal but one must be careful not to harm the aluminum. There's many tips searching on these forums with varying degrees of success. Here in the Alumacraft Boats, Post Topic, Engine Size Question, 1959_FDR is stripping 47 years of paint with common brake fluid on his AlumaCraft with success. Don't rush to do something on the boat before learning and knowing the results. To work on a vintage boat it shouldn't be hurried, if it's to be done right. If you work on it let us know about the results.
