Computer monitor question

All of a sudden, my monitor is "pixilating". What I mean is the letters are blurry and "dancing." Is this a problem with my monitor or my computer. I've changed the resolution and at 800 x 600 I can at least read posts. AT 1024 x 768 I can barley read the screen.

Is this a video graphic problem on my desk top or a problem with my monitor?

I can follow directions but I'm not that computer savvy so please keep any answers to a level I can understand. Thank you.

PS. I performed a "system restore" to an earlier date and that did not work.

Using Windows XP

You might have to update or reinstall the graphics controller or monitor driver.

What brand is your computer ??

Re: Computer monitor question

OK, Lets try this first.

Shut off the compu & monitor & restart it.

Then go to Setting then Control panel then click on the systems icon. then click on the hardware tab

Then look in the device manager and see if there's any yellow question marks in there.

What type of monitor do you have? CRT or flat screen?

Re: Computer monitor question

There should be a icon that looks like a monitor & tower in your control panel.

Not that I can locate.I've tried to update the driver but it says the driver I have installed is the best driver available

The wizard could not find a better match for your hardware than the software that is currently installed

Re: Computer monitor question

Maybe your monitor is just pooping to bed.

Do you have another monitor you can try to see if it does the same thing.

No, I don't have another monitor. The neighbor brought one down but I don't have the correct cable to hook it up to my PC

( 0xc000409)

Thats a SVHHOST error.

You might have to do the F8 or F10 key and restore it to the last known good mode.

Did the F8 and last known good configuration and that didn't work. It might be time to take it to the repair/diagnostic shop?

Re: Computer monitor question

I also found this.

Error 0xc000409 is a critical Windows error and is usually caused by a corrupt registry

Re: Computer monitor question

You can try going back as far as you can with a restore point.

If you didn't delete them, You should be able to go back to last months restore points

Its worth a try. :)
