I've been diagnosed with stage 3+ cataracts in both eyes. I am 62.

Has anyone had the lens replacement procedure done?

Experiences?

Thanks.

I've also have cats starting, and Mom had them done some years ago and all good. Same with many others, all was real simple and no issues, one eye at a time
Only know of one bad one, a lady had one done and somehow it didn't fold out, and has had some real issues. Think her doctor screwed up. In any case she will undergo surgery from a specialist to fix

I was legally blind with cataracts in both eyes and didn't know it. I wore glasses starting in my twenties. I couldn't drive at night. I had to squint to read anything. Then I failed an eye test when renewing my license.

I got one eye done and before getting the second eye fixed, I compared my vision difference and was shocked. Your lenses fog slowly over time with cataracts so the change is hard to detect without regular vision testing, which I neglected.

No more glasses, even for reading with no squinting. I drive can at night. I was a little older than you and had concerns, eyes are touchy things to stick stuff in. The Admiral got her cataracts fixed before me and had to use readers, I don't need them.

No more failed eye tests when renewing my DL and I've had several since. The procedure is so simple and painless, don't hesitate, Lightwin.

I have them starting but the eye doctor said it will be many years before they get to the point to block any vision. My wife has had both her eyes fixed and she doesn't have any issues. Not a big deal as you may think. They do literally millions of people every year with near 100% success rate. Not many surgeries with that high of a rate of success. Of course it only is worrisome when they are doing it to you. But I think you will find it was very well worth the surgery after you SEE the difference.

I did have Lasik eye correction on one eye and the difference was absolutely immediately. He had me read the eye chart that I could not even try to read before the surgery. I read everything perfectly after only a few minutes of LASAR surgery.

I had cataract surgery at age 78 after 62 years wearing glasses. Went from trifocals to no glasses needed. I opted for high tech $3000.00 lenses, not covered by insurance, but offering some focus ability. Surgery was quick and easy one eye at a time separated by 2 weeks.

Cataract surgery is one of the safest surgeries there is. You are in and out in an hour. Your vision improvement after surgery will be amazing. Probably half the population 65 and up have had the surgery or will have it. My vision went from 20/50 to 20/20 and that’s without glasses. The worst part of it is you have to put a bunch of drops in your eyes for about 30 days after the surgery. Just get er done, you’ll be glad you did.

Had a customer who was afraid of cataract surgery. She kept me busy installing bigger light fixtures, bigger windows, skylights etc. Family finally convinced her to do it and I haven't been called since.

Had mine done 12 months ago.

I was seeing 3 images in the left eye (about 15 arc-minutes separation and 90 degrees apart). Then the right eye started doing the same thing. Didn't realise just how bad it was until I was driving and couldn't read the speed signs until they were just level with the car bonnet ('hood', Murican)...

I've worn glasses since 8 years old (was 59 last year) and ended with myopic value of -6 in each eye. As I like my close vision (for working on electronics in particular) I talked the surgeon into installing -3 lenses.

Even the first day I was able to look through the new lenses, I realised just how bad they had been.

The surgery is 'uncomfortable', but no big deal. I had both eyes done, a week apart. My mother had hers done about 2 years previous.

Stop worrying about it, and just get it done. You won't regret it.

Had mine done about a year ago, went from >20/100 to 20/20 in one eye and 20/35 in the other. I still prefer to wear glasses because of safety. I use store bought reading glasses that are bifocal with plain (no correction) lens on top.It is so nice to wake up in the morning and be able to see the alarm clock without glasses.
