Boat Lift Winch Wearing Out?

I have an electric winch on my boat lift. It's about 7 years old and it just doesn't traverse up and down like it used to. Pretty slow especially after the boat starts to float .............. like the weight of the boat on the cradle is necessary to provide tension to turn the gears inside the winch or something. I fear it's on it's last season. Anyone else ever have a similar issue? If so what was the fix?

thanks

Lubricants at key points? New brushes and clean armature? Power supply up to snuff?

Check your wiring for corrosion - if the wires are corroding inside the jackets they your resistance is climbing - check for warm wires..... I really suspect plain old corrosion in the wiring or the armature. Consider it lives in a moist environment.

As a test - replace the power lines with something cleaner and proper gauge.
