Always watching my Motortrend channel, and seems it's always an Ls 3(?) mentioned for swaps and not the 5.7/350? I loved my 99 350 Yukon

the TPI Gen 1 SBC was the swap rage in the 90's
the LT1's were the whole swap rage in the 90's
the LS swaps were the swap rage in the 00's
now the LT motors are the hot swap

the LS with variable valve timing puts out more power than the 350 in your 99 yukon

makes sense, smaller, newer and crazy how strong the newer engines are!

The 5.7 is pretty much a dead engine these days, I have a 5.3 in my truck and it is a great engine, lots of power and torque with decent fuel mileage..

correct, the last 5.7 in a truck was pre LS days. early LS engines in trucks were the 4.8, 5.3, 6.0 and 6.2

Had a 5.3 in my Tahoe. Thought 17 mpg highway was pretty good until I got the new truck.

I have the 3.5 Turbo getting 21, but my buddies 5.0 Coyote is getting 22-23 mpg on the highway. Thats one heck of a leap in fuel efficiency.

the new LT motors from GM (2014+) targeted the ford ecoboost and they wanted just 1 mpg better fuel economy. on the highway I average 23mpg if i kept it 70mph or below. cant knock todays motors.

Had a 2020 Dodge Ram (5.7) rental last week. Put over 2,000 miles on it in a week. Could not believe how bad the fuel mileage was. Just barely over 17 mph on trip I’ve made getting 20.5 mpg.

The guy riding with me got 21.5 mpg in his 2019 Chevy crew a couple of weeks earlier.

Cruise set on 77. In the mountains for the better part of the journey. Baltimore to Louisville KY

Agreed, the fuel economy on Dodge gas motors is lacking
