Stubbing in the new bathroom at our river house basement. Nine feet of 4" deep saw cut, 14" wide, more at the stack. Jack hammer through a 10" footing. Excavate a 3' pit to tie into the septic sewer line. Lay vanity, toilet and shower waste line plus a vent. Inlets w/in 1/4" of layout. Back fill and concrete over.

DIY value is the satisfaction of doing it. Additional value is the money saved. I've got a $$ figure based on $60-$70 hr. My hours don't count. Slow, careful pace with plenty of cigar and beer breaks.

Anyone care to venture a guess what I saved myself?

Its not what you saved,it is what you gained. Pat yourself on the back and dwell in the satisfaction of accomplishment!
