I've got a 2011 Ranger on which the tailgate is rusting along the bottom seam. Starting to bubble the paint on the (visible) outside and actually flaking metal on the inner side. I've priced new tailgates as well as used from southern locations, but thought I would look into one of the "paint over rust" coatings. A little research discloses lots of good reviews for POR-15 and Rust-Bullet, but I thought I'd ask this group for recommendations.

I'm listening..

Thanks guys.

I live in the land of RUST and killing it is near impossible Rust = cancer :(

POR15 is okay but you will never really get it all. If you can get a rust free replacement I would suggest 2 things....... Paint the heck out of the inside and then when it's dry - pour in about a quart of heavy weight oil. We get most things that we care about "oil undercoated" including the insides of door panels etc. It has to be re-applied at least yearly - it's messy - it's anti environment but it works.
