The ease which you cut thru the part would suggest the part was tempered

It cuts at the same amount as the rod from lowes. In any case, if I have a problem with it then you will be correct with your assumptions

Buy 316 SS round stock, then do not worry about corrosion

Maybe if this one doesn't last

Made it a tad longer (mistake) so had to cut it down that tad.
Installed, adjusted and no issues. Time will tell if any develop

Did find out that a brand new die cuts a whole lot easier then a 40 year old one :rolleyes: , but the 40 year old one still did a good job
