Looking to replace my tow vehicle / Beach Buggy in the Spring. Towing #6k plus or minus.

Anyone towing with a 3.5l EcoBoost V6? 365 HP with #420 Torque with a combined 20 mpg is an intriguing combination

There was a thread about the F-150 3.5 Ecoboost a couple months ago. Maybe you can find it in a search?

I believe the F-150 with all the towing goodies has an insane towing capacity (13K lbs. )

The marina my buddy works at got one of those fords...the pull but they dont stop well with a load is his opinion...he prefers to use the 3/4 tons for the additional braking.

That seems a little much. You're talking 3/4 ton territory w/o a diesel...

Ford specs the F150 with 3.5L EcoBoost at #12,200 towing and #3,180 payload.

The F250 with 6.2L is #21,000 and payload of #7,630. Gooseneck to #35k

Thats insane.... My '16 RAM 6.4 Hemi 3/4 ton has a 12600# tow rating... What gear? Mine r 3:73. If I went to 4:10s, my tow rating would be 15600#.

They said when properly equipped. Ive looked at charts from Ford and dont see those numbers encept in a f350 dually diesel.

F250 with 3.73 r getting the aame numbers as mine. 430 gear would slightly less than my 410s..

If you opt for the limited its 450hp and 510 of torque.Towing fairly average at 6k id seriously look at the 5.0 at 395hp with 10speed tranny.Ford should up their game and at least equal the rams interior, they would have a darn near perfect truck then.

Older post but since I finally towed with my 3.5 eco boost thought i'd add my .02. Drove up to the cabin and got 20.7 mpg with a tailwind. On the way back home towing a 2500lb boat/trailer I got 11.8 mpg. I was heading into a pretty good wind all the way home but I didn't expect that much of a drop. I don't think my old 5.4 took that much of a beating while towing, though it admittedly never got close to 20.7 either.

FWIW.....my 2014 GMC Sierra with a 5.3 routinely gets 21mpg. I have hit a high of 23.5mpg first of the new LT series of direct injected engines. 9600# towing.

Just to round things out...ended up get a 2015, 4x4 Crew Cab with the 3.5 Turbo and the max. tow package.

Gets 20 mpg on the highway, 17 mpg around town and 12.5 towing. The 5.3 Tahoe it replaced was luck to hit double figures when towing.

Sport mode is fun, but expensive.......lol

We bought it primarily as a tow vehicle. Have a Civic SI and Mazda 3 as daily drivers

My wife drags a pair of Clydesdale / Thoroughbred cross horses (~ 600 Kg ea. + trailer) around. I drag the Grady (~2,600 Kg) up and down the east coast fishing tournaments.

Performs both tasks quite well.
