test post of pic...

the above photo was horizontal i my file explorer, but appears vertical here and in several other forums....WHY?

Might need to rotate and resave. I saved original, brought it into photo viewer, rotated and closed. When I open it back up it looks fine

I just saved it down and the uploaded it again. Looks like it worked just fine.

because you are viewing it on your phone which auto-rotates the picture you took.

No guys this is all done on windows 10 laptops...not phone.

I download the vertical image using Save Image As

go to File Explorer (and see the thumbnail as vertical)

right mouse click whilst the image is selected and rotate the image counterclock wise, and see the the thumbnail horizontal like it should.

open it up in Paint or Photo viewer and it is horizontal as expected..

upload THAT image to the forum and bam back to vertical

in my next response I am going to do the steps again on my work laptop (I'll be saving the first vertical image and suffix the file name with _vertical)

used Photos to rotate the image first (from thread 1), then uploaded

the following used File Explorer -> rotate (in file explorer it looks horizontal, in Paint it looks horizontal, in fact in ANY editing software I have the pic is horizontal)

Well at least I have a fix.
