My 97 Grand Cherokee would be eligible for buy back if I still had it. Wonder what they'd pay?

just saw that. i have a 2013 1500. haven't had any issues yet though

I have a 2012 2500. I haven't had issues yet either, but when I had a 2008 2500 the frontend had problems at @40k. I'm at 40k on my current one.

My 97 Grand Cherokee would be eligible for buy back if I still had it. Wonder what they'd pay?

All I can think of is, the problem has been going on since 2008. Must be forced to buyout since they haven't fixed the issue a long time ago. Problem is, they may only pay .50 on the dollar on the current value. Or, value it way low. I guess time will tell..... And how long will it take to receive payout or get it fixed? Will it be like the airbag issue?

Here's the recall for airbags list:
Fiat Chrysler also said Saturday it would recall 667,406 Ram trucks in North America to prevent the inadvertent deployment of side-curtain air-bags. The automaker said some of the pickups for 2013-2015 Ram 1500, 2500 and 2500 pickups may be set to deploy at low thresholds. The company said it is aware of two potentially related injuries, both described as minor, but no accidents.

Here's supposedly the buyback list: FCA’s buyback list
NHTSA’s consent agreement with Fiat Chrysler requires the automaker to offer to buy back the following models that are under recall:
278,229 vehicles recalled on February 6, 2013 because of a defect that may cause the axle to lock:
■ 2009 model year Chrysler Aspen
■ 2009 model year Dodge Durango
■ 2009-2012 model years Dodge Ram 1500
■ 2009-2011 model years Dodge Dakota

36,710 vehicles recalled on November 6, 2013 because of a defect that may cause the driver to lose steering power and crash:
■ 2008-2012 model years Dodge Ram 4500
■ 2008-2012 model years Dodge Ram 5500

265,057 vehicles recalled on November 6, 2013, to repair and replace steering linkages that may cause the driver to lose steering power and crash:
■ 2008 model year Dodge Ram 1500
■ 2008-2012 model years Dodge Ram 2500
■ 2008-2012 model years Dodge Ram 3500

I have an 09 Ram 1500 Crew cab with about 84K on it. I have done both front wheel bearings (at 65K), one tie rod end, had to have the exhaust manifold bolts replaced, and other misc things like the multifunction turn signal stem replaced. I had two chips that started to rust and I have some good rust bubbles on my rear passenger wheel well.

Comparing this to my suburban, this thing is a lemon. I have done very little to my suburban in its 185K miles - a couple waterpumps, Brakes, wheel hubs at ~140K. And no rust spots.

I like the truck I just don't want to be constantly fixing it.

Yeah I'm hoping the 05 will last me until I'm dead. I've thought about just buying a 73 Chevy and spending the $ to completely restore and just run that. Less stuff to go wrong, kinda like me 'new' little Lonestar. Blessed is simple.

From NBC News:

The cash outlay could be substantial. According to Kelly Blue Book, a 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 - one of the smaller, less-expensive trucks involved in the recalls - could fetch $20,000 in a dealer trade-in, assuming the truck has 60,000 miles on it and is in "good" condition. At that rate, if Chrysler had to buy back even a quarter of the trucks at issue, it could spend $2.5 billion.

As mentioned, I have a 2012 2500 Crew Cab w/40k miles. Could be lucrative on a trade-in.... Wait and see.....

I'm waiting for a buy back letter for my '87 Dodge Ramcharger 4X4 with almost 300K miles. Hoping to get enough for a 1500 EcoDiesel. Wonder when the letters go out? LOL

This whole recall thing must have something to do with Mercedes and now Fiat. My Chrysler Dodge built tank has only had like 3 recalls since '87 and they were silly issues.

I've always liked those GA ... cool rig. Dad drove Broncos when I was a kid. I liked them too, but the Ramchargers always looked meaner to me.

The buyback only applies to ones that HAVE NOT had the previous recall work done and are on the list. The fine was because they felt Chrysler did not push the vehicle owners enough to have the repairs done. The buyback, where it applies, means that they will pay 10% above market value for your vehicle, if you are trading in for another Fiat Chrysler product. They will also give you a $100 gift certificate to be used anywhere if you take your vehicle in to get recall work completed. My wonderful wife surprised me with a " new to me " Ram 1500 Hemi recently so needless to say I was interested in the recall. And before you think she's the best wife in the world, the move was self serving. She didn't want me using HER Jeep to tow the boat.

I wasn't aware of the 10% above market value. We'll see what they offer......

Jeepman, have you heard when they're going to start rolling this out?
