Well race fans, it's back! With the 69 day gap since Phoenix on March 8th and Sunday, Nascar has revamped the 2020 schedule. The initial change is from May 17th to May 20th, Cup will race two times and X-Men will race once. Because we will have 3 races over 4 days, this thread will cover all three. Weather report - Sunday should be warm and sunny. :D Wednesday has rain in the forecast. :blue:

These three races have no practice and no qualifying. The starting lineup for the Cup race was set by owner points as follows for Sunday's Cup race;
  • Positions 1-12 will be a random draw from charter teams in those positions in team owner points
  • Positions 13-24: Random draw among charter teams in those positions in owner points
  • Positions 25-36: Random draw among charter teams in those positions in owner points
  • Positions 37-40 will be filled out by open, non-chartered teams in order of owner points
Wednesday's Cup race will use the finishing order of Sunday's race. Are you confused yet? I know I am. :eek: Wednesday lineup will be;
  • Starting positions 1-20: The top 20 finishers from the May 17 event will be inverted for the start of the May 20 race
  • Starting positions 21-40: The bottom 20 finishers from the May 17 event will be inverted for the start of the May 20 race; any new entries will be placed at the tail of the field

News and Notes
  • Humpty said we've had too much news, but we gotta have some. :smile:
  • Good news - Ryan Newman returns. He is cleared to race.
  • So-So news - Kyle Larson ain't coming back after sticking his foot in his mouth during one of the iRaces.
  • Good news - Matt Kenseth is back. He is taking Larson's seat in the #42.
  • Good news - Nascar has waived the 36 race requirement for both Ryan and Matt, so they can race for the championship.
  • Bad news - 3 races got scrubbed with the realigned schedule - Sonoma, Richmond Spring and Chicagoland races. With Sonoma gone, we have 1 less road course race. We'll see if they are back next year.
  • Good news - Nascar is back on track! :rockon::victorious::cheer2:

iBoats Fantasy Live
  • If you forgot - iFL Phoenix was won by Tiz. If I remember, he gets a :first: Congrats, Tiz.
  • And if 64osby forgot, he is on top of the leaderboard.
  • Since pole position is set for both Darlington races by draw, we don't get pole bonus points or I would have picked Keso. :rolleyes:
  • The race picks on Sunday lock at 3:25 PM Eastern.
  • Everything else is the same as before.

Pre-race activities are under way at Darlington. Inspection results may be a little slow because we have to use Nascar reporting as the regular reporting crews are at home like the fans. Even Jeff Gordon and Mike Joy aren't in the broadcast booth. They are sitting in a studio in Charlotte watching TV like us, except they have a wall of TV's to look at.

iFL locks at 3:48 if you need a reminder. Nascar Cup Series is at the track ready to bend real steel at the Track Too Tough To Tame!

Was watching the start of the pre race coverage and suddenly remembered that I needed to update FL.:facepalm:

Will see what the darts do today.

Should be interesting to see what the teams can pull together with no practice and limited pit members. Might make for an interesting race.

Warm up laps are the first time cars have been on a track since Phoenix.

And A trip down pit for a speed/time check. Around lap 20 a competition caution. Field is frozen and will pit in groups of 20.

Just before the heat ending yellow, spins after a slight hit on a lap car and hits the inside wall.

Bryron wins the heat.

Yellow for Byron. So far bad luck for 3 of the 4 Hendrick cars. Johnson wrecks, Elliott caught speeding on pit road and now Bryron. Bowman is the only one not having trouble today.

Pits are open and busy.
