Falsies

Curious, how many have full dentures. I'm well into the process now with only 12 teeth left to pull. My mouth has been horrible for years and decided last Spring to find my options.

With the blessings of my dentist of the past 30 years, I became a patient at the renowned Marquette University School of Dentistry. It's been nice having 5-6 dentists, most of which are specialists, all chiming in with recommendations. Unfortunately after several sets of different types of xray and exams the concensus was I had nothing left in my mouth that was salvageable.

So - falsies it is.

i'm beginning to realize that I will be there in a few years (53 now). Mine are cracking and splitting and my guy is trying to patch what he can for as long as he can. Three of my back molars are out, one will be prob this year then depending on the rate of fracturing i'll be with you.

Are you going old school or screw in?

Semi old school. They will be doing 2 implants to secure the lower, but claim proper fitting upper dentures should not require anchors.. Worse case down the road they may need to add 2 upper posts and 2 more lower as the gums and jaw change with age.

I'm blessed with solid teeth, 66 yrs and counting. My wife, not so much. She's into her second implant @ +- $5K a pop. Not covered by insurance, but bridges and dentures are. So far bridges aren't an option for her. Most of her teeth are iffy, and won't anchor a bridge. Like oldrem above, she's hoping she can spread a few more implants enough to support bridges or dentures.

Dentists shy away from pulling 'good' teeth, even hers, to make way for dentures and bridges. Insurance is even more stingy. I told her if she catches me on the right (or wrong) day, I'd be glad to help with tooth removal ;)

Mine were pretty much either Swiss cheese, broken, or badly superimposed so though they tried it was inevitable all remaining had to go. No insurance for it here, so good thing the school is comparatively reasonable.

Three of my lowers are God given, the rest have been purchased. I have been like this 40 or so years (I'm in my young 80's.) and I have had a replacement set (Uppers & lowers) about 6 or 7 years ago. I don't have any implants and I don't need or use any adhesive and I eat anything I want, no exceptions.
Since I've had dentures, my mouth has been happy, I should have done it sooner.
Good luck,
Nick

Ayuh,...... I always had teeth of iron, no cavities, but gingivitis caused many to get loose, 'n fall out,.....
Or I'd pull the loose ones myself with my bent-nose vice-grips,........

'bout 4 years ago, I refitted a Hiliner 222 for a dental surgeon,....
Towards the end, I mentioned I was in need of serious dental health, 'n even though Jerry isn't a dentist, he knows 'em all,.....
He had his office set me up, 'n hooked me up with the Best dentist in the area,......

A plan was developed, 'n Jerry pulled all but a couple of my teeth, upper, 'n lower,.....
I stepped outa his chair, 'n went to the other guy's office for temp dentures that anchored to the remainin' teeth,.....
Then the implants were installed, 4 up, 5 down,.....
After some healin', the last teeth were pulled, 'n the temporary/ backup snap-ins were installed,....

Last fall, it had been alittle over a year, so I contacted the dentist, who'd since retired,......
The new guy is another great guy, but the lab they're usin', sucks,.....
Of the 4 test fit sessions, it seemed like the dentures were built for somebody else's mouth,....
The only thing they've gotten right, is the number of implants,.....
They wouldn't snap in, 'n were to tall,.......
The last session was better, but we'll see what the final product is, very soon, I hope,....
If the lab don't get it right this time, I'll suggest he tries another lab, or I'll be tryin' another dentist,.....
I'm supposed to be livin' in Maine by now,.... yet I'm still stuck here in NYS,.....

I spent 'bout $25,000. so far, 'n it'll be $30,000. when done,....... All outa pocket,....

Ouch - for that money you'd think they could get it right the first time.

Ayuh,..... For that kinda money,.... I wish I'd done it 10 years ago, for a better cost per year pay-back,.......
I'm gonna have to live to 80 to make it seem "Worth" it,......

I also wouldn't have had the 1st dentist retire on me,.....
The guy is a true artist in his field,.....

Well, everything is on hold until they straighten out this covid-19 China virus crap. Marquette University is shut down for at least the next 3 weeks when all will be re-evaluated. Needless to say I'm in limbo with just my last 12 teeth to work with until they can start scheduling again. Looks like I'll be at least 6-8 weeks behind the original schedule. :( :( :(

I thought you were talking about the things women wear. Back in high school, there was this girl that had pretty good ones. At a house party this guy was hitting on her a lot. She goes to the restroom, comes out flat. The guy takes a look and leaves the party immediately. Yeah I need to get some teeth fixed to.

Yep I remember girls who looked a lot less "full" when you saw them in gym class or sports when they knew it would be bad for things to fall out.
