We're following the Yellow Brick Road to Kansas. The road trip will leave 4 drivers on the side of the road and 8 will continue their quest to reach the end of the road. The 4 in danger of being left behind are the 3 Hendrick drivers still in the hunt - Elliott, Byron and Bowman. Talladega was not kind to them. The 4th driver in danger of dropping out is Bowyer. BTW - Elliott won this race last year.

X-Men begin the round of 8, so no cuts for them.

Weather - Right now KC is under a flood warning! It's sunny now for Cup and X-Practice today, but overnight rain is supposed to end about an hour before qualifying for both series begins tomorrow and the X-Race should be OK.. Sunday should be nice.

News and Notes
  • 2 haulers were involved in separate incidents on the way to Kansas City. A Kaulig hauler for X-Men #10 for Chastain ran off the road in NC after the driver had a medical issue, driver and co-driver had minor injuries. And a JTG Daugherty Racing #47 hauler had a fire in IL. Both teams are getting support from other teams and will field cars at Kansas.
  • Driver changes - Stenhouse is moving to JTG Daugherty next year, Chastain is going full time in X-Men with Kaulig. More to come.
  • Nascar has a sponsor - Sort of. The lizard has signed on as a premier sponsor with others in the mix. For the first time in 49 years Nascar will not have a Cup title sponsor.
  • Nascar has bought ISC. There may be talks to buy SMI. So Nascar would end up owning all but a couple of tracks not owned by Nascar/SMI
  • TV ratings - Can't find any for the rain delayed race at Talladega other than some streaming stats. NBC said it was the most streamed Cup Series race on record in all key metrics. Compared to 2018 race: - Up 114% in uniques (150,000) - Up 74% in live minutes (8.9 mil) - Up 64% in avg. min. audience (32K)

iBoats Fantasy Live
  • We had our 5th tie of the year. FlaCowboy and Da Rowdy Gambler must have copied homework! And judging by the number of wrecked cars, Gambler helped Cowboy toss rib bones and spill BBQ sauce! Wonder if they shared salvage rights? Hey Cowboy - Since we're at Kansas this week will you use KC Masterpiece sauce? :D Congrats FC :first: and DRG :first:
  • A few stray rib bones must have been aimed at justkiddin 5 because FC stretched his lead in the overall standings to 89 points after adding 66 points at Dega.
  • The pole locks at 1:30 PM tomorrow before Cup qualifying.

Good luck to most players,

Humpty

First Cup practice had Keso on top, followed by Almirola, Suarez, Blaney and BigBro.

Final practice kicks off a little after 7 PM.

Final Cup practice - Hemric , Harvick, BigBro, Keso and Blaney were the top 5.

You have until 1:30PM tomorrow to make your pole pick. I'll urge early picking because FC has sauce on the burner and bones behind his back.

From Jayski;

No. 19 of Truex fails inspection twice and will lose their car chief and 15 minutes of practice at Martinsville.

This is interesting. This is an impound race and the Harvick crew won't be able to fix whatever they found and it's safer to tattle on themselves than get cucumbered or DQ'ed after the race.

No. 4 of Harvick originally passed inspection but elected to self-fail after finding an issue afterward. They will also lose their car chief.

As long as both cars pass on the 3rd time, their qualifying counts. If not, to the rear with no time.

Ooops;

Harvick car failed after they made the fix. So he won’t get to qualify and they will start at the rear because it counted as third failure.

3 guesses who I picked for the pole! :blue:

So what happened to Harvick? Failed 1st inspection, so reinspect. Passed 2nd inspection, then crew found a driveshaft weight was hitting the driveshaft tunnel and they self-failed. Fixed it and lost crewman and practice time next week. Failed 3rd time, so no qualifying time and 15 more practice minutes lost. Fixed the car again. Failed 4th time. He may lose 10 driver points, but there appears to be a hole in the rule book for impound races. Updating as we go - Nascar says no point deduct. He has a 5th shot coming up to pass inspection. I think Harvick and crew are breaking new ground.

Brandon Jones wins his first Nascar race, with Reddick and Briscoe behind him.

Custer and Briscoe got into a tussle after the race. A Nascar push and shove match.

2:25 PM is the cutoff for your iFL rosters.

I have no idea what all went on with Harvick faing inspection yesterday. Apparently the car passed the 4th time and the tweeters were confused and I was sucked in. One thing for sure - Harvick is starting in last place.

2:25 PM is the current iFL roster lock time.

1st yellow for debris off Newman's car caused by contact with the wall. 4 laps left in the heat, so a couple of laps shootout to the end

With 15 laps to go, Blaney tags the wall and a tire rub, blowout brings out the caution.

Keso and Elliott are fighting for the last playoff spot. 3 points separate them.

Cautio! Elliott was on Hamlin's tail. Overtime coming to.

Elliott in 2nd with a 2 point lead over Keso. And the way he was going before the yellow, he has a shot at winning - Maybe.

The caution was for Wallace and Tifft wrecking. Wallace lost a tire, hub and all, and it rolled down the track.

After pitting, Keso has 1 point on Elliott. This restart will be something!

Caution, but was the white flag out?

They got 4 wide and Keso got twisted and behind him, wreck, including Joey.

It was before the white flag. We'll try again.

It's Joey with 3 points over Elliott.
