We're starting the 2nd playoff round with Jimmy Johnson, Austin Dillon, Denny Hamlin and Eric Jones missing the 1st round cut. The current standings after the points reset with Elliott, Larson, Almirola and Bowman riding the cut bubble;

News and Notes
  • A few words about the Charlotte Roval playoff race - Some of the best racing in years and the Roval was a welcome addition to the playoffs since Nascar has not included a pure playoff road course race. The Roval is a worth substitute and rewarded skilled driving.
  • Charlotte penalties - Only one, McMurray had a loose nut in the post-race inspection.
  • Kasey Kahne hasn't been medically cleared for Dover. His last race was Darlington and he suffered extreme heat exhaustion.
  • TV ratings - Just going to copy Jayski's because it includes some analysis;
    The NASCAR Cup Series playoffs at Charlotte earned a 1.95 rating and 3.218 million viewers on NBC, up 6% in ratings and 13% in viewership from last year (1.8, 2.86M) and just the fourth Cup Series race all season to post an increase, joining Michigan, Chicagoland and Watkins Glen.

    Excluding rainouts, Sunday's race was the highest rated and most-watched at Charlotte since 2014 on ABC (3.1, 5.1M). It was the first race at Charlotte not to be affected by rain since 2014 (last year's start was moved up an hour). In a rarity, the story is less positive when including rainouts. The 2016 race, which was postponed from Saturday night to Sunday afternoon, had a 2.1 and 3.221 million on both NBC and NBCSN.

    The telecast, which peaked with 4.4 million viewers from 5:15-5:30 PM ET, had a combined TV and streaming audience of 3.24 million

  • 64osby won his 3rd race this year and this is the first playoff win for him Congrats, 64osby. I know 64 will chock his trailer with pride! 🏆
  • Got a new team heading up the overall leaderboard - Fasteddie370.
  • The pole pick locks at 3:35 PM Eastern tomorrow. I probably won't be around tomorrow for Cup practice and Qualifying, so this is your final reminder. You're on your own - Make those pole picks. :D

After that Humpty guy said the weather was good, a quick shower washed out Cup qualifying. :mad:

The Twerp has the pole on owner points - Raxum fraxum!

Mr. Accu-Weather Humpty is not to be trusted! Fog and rain are delaying this morning's Cup practice.

Bell won the X-Eliminator race.

Cup got a practice in before the X-Race and the 10 fastest were Larson, Hamlin, Jones, Almirola, Elliott, BuschX1, Bowyer, Blaney, The Twerp and Harvick. That includes 8 of the 12 remaining playoff drivers. The other 4 - Keso 13th, Joey 14th, Truex 19th and Bowman 22nd.

iFL locks at 1:55PM ET tomorrow.

In other news - Kenseth said he has no plans on driving next season, even if Roush asks. He said that last year, but he seemed more sure of himself this time.

The iFL roster lock has been moved back a few minutes to 2:11PM for you who are undecided.

This is funny;

Great - Johnson is going to the garage before the start. Naturally I have him as a non-playoff driver. :doh:

Green flag!

At 40 laps only 25 cars on the lead lap. No cautions.

Harvick wins the 1st heat by almost 6.5 seconds. Only 14 cars on the lead lap and uncharacteristically for Dover - No cautions.

Harvick takes heat 2. Still no cautions except for heat ending yellows.

Harvick breaks off a valve stem and has to double pit ... goes from 1st to a lap down ... ouch! Then Twerp gets a speeding penalty and is a lap down ...

I go and do some husbandly duties and the old Dover returned. Picked up three yellows in the last heat, Elliott is leading and Overtime.

Chase Elliott wins in Overtime and punches his ticket for the next round. Hamlin, Joey, Jones and BuschX1 followed.

justkiddin 5 or Fasteddie370 won iFL - Only one point separates them, so gotta wait for Tuesday.

Thanks for the updates, 'speck. I missed 'em all. :doh:

Playoff driver finishes: Elliott 1st, Joey 3rd, Busch4X1 5th, Harvick 6th, The Twerp 8th, Blaney 11th, Larson 12th, Almirola 13th, Keso 14th, Truex Jr. 15th, Bowman 28th and Bowyer 35th.

And the Steelers took care of Atlanta like the Steelers of old.

Those cautions at the end meant I would
not see the end of the race ... had to get over to the church ... and the Steelers looked like the Steelers...

I caught the very end, so between us, we're even. I guess.

Justkiddin 5 held on to that single point and gets the wheel chock of the week. Congrats, JK 5. 🏆

Fasteddie370 has a second week on top of the leaderboard.

Cup and Trucks are on tap at Talladega on Saturday and Sunday. Trucks return to the track at Kansas.
