News and Notes
  • How petty is Nascar? Not that Petty, this one - Nascar will tell teams when they can and cannot use wipers on road courses. Some teams leave them on, rain or shine. Remember the only time wipers are used is on road courses, 3 races this year and Nascar is saying that the wipers add an aero advantage on these low speed tracks. Get a life!
  • For all the post-qualifying inspections flunks, 13 teams, only Harvick and Kahne got hit. Both lost 10 driver points and owner points. Harvick was 48 behind The Twerp, now with 5 races left he is 58 points behind.
  • Also 2 guys got handed indefinite suspensions for behavior. No idea why unless they were bending wiper arms on the competition. LOL
  • TV ratings - Pocono was at 1.8 and last year got a 2.0.

iBoats Fantasy Live
  • No tie at Pocono, but still a close race. Tiz held a 1 point lead over 64osby. Congrat, Tiz.
  • FlaCowby added to his overall lead, now 322 points.
  • Pole choices lock at 6:30 ET on Saturday. Mmm, osby could have had a 4 point win. LOL But Most the leaders ended up at the back for flunking inspection. :blue:

X-Men are running the 1st practice in light rain on a wet track. Wonder if Nascar allowed wipers?

^^^^ Sort of. One car made a lap during the opening 20+ minutes.

5 cars made a lap in the opening X-Men practice. Not even a good wiper test. LOL

9 teams out of 42 practiced today. Tomorrows X-Q'ing may be interesting.

Drier at the Glen today. Cup completed the 1st practice, X-Men finished qualifying.

Joey has the X-Pole, followed by Keso, Larson, Allmendinger, Hemric, ADillon, Truex, Almriola, Allgaier, Bell, Custer, and Preece. Too many Cuppers in the top 12.

During the Cup practice, Newman had contact with a guardrail. Erik Jones was the fastest. One more Cup practice, then the X-Race, followed by Cup qualifying with the iFL pole locking at 6:30.

After the post qualifying inspection debacle last week, the following memo was sent to Cup teams;

As teams apparently are trying to manipulate NASCAR's camera-and-projector body scanning system with strategically placed black trim, NASCAR sent a memo to teams stating that any submitted paint scheme it views is created with the intention of reducing the scan density in critical areas (tail corners, wheel openings, a-posts, etc.) will be denied. Any previously approved paint scheme is subject to having developer spray (a spray that often enhances the definition of the surface) applied during the inspection process. Any modification made to a previously approved paint scheme will be removed at the track.

High tech clashes with high tech! :smile:

Final Cup practice results - Elliott, Hamlin, Almriola, Byron, McDowell, Johnson, McMurray, Kahne, Stenhouse and Truex the top 10.

Hamlin was the fastest most of the practice until Elliott moved up in the last few minutes after lingering in mid-pack.

Choose your pole winner before 6:30. As we've seen the last couple of races, those 5 points can make a difference if you pick the pole sitter.

Rain tires r on. They should do this at every track except plate races and for all 3 series.... Might bring interest back, at least 4 us at home...

Red flag as the rain lets up. Staying on rain tires or switching to slicks will make a jumble of things.

If you picked Hamlin to take the pole, you have 5 bonus points.

Then it was The Twerp, Elliott, Truex, Larson, Joey, Almirola,The Dinger, Jones, Kahne, Blaney and McDowell.

Roster locks at 2:55 PM ET tomorrow afternoon.

Jayski tweeted;

Hamlin wins the provisional pole, followed by KyBusch Elliott Truex Larson Logano Almirola Allmendinger Jones Kahne Blaney McDowell.

Post-qualifying inspection is tomorrow.

"provisional" pole and post qualifying inspection tomorrow mean something more after last week.
