Well my baby is 100 years old guys! m1917 enfield (eddystone).I'm going to get her a s&k mount for a present and am wondering what to get for a scope.Have other rifles so id like to use her for possible long range shooting.1000 yards or so.Well within the capabilities of the 30.06 but who knows about me,lol.Suggestions on a scope that's reasonable?Heres a pic of her at a party with her friends:joyous: If anybodys loaded 30.06 for long range ,care to share the load?

Ditto - I haven't done anything out that far enough to know. I've been concentrating so much on handguns the last few years.

No problem guys, I have a few loading books and a encyclopedia of shooting .Just thought maybe somebody did long range and would have a few 30.06 recipes.Back in the day soldiers were expected to hit a man sized target at 1000 yards.Me ,because I'm half blind I will most likely need a scope about as big as one of those seti telescopes. My ambition may be too big but I'm going to try anyways..Chances are I'm not going to be able to find a safe range for that kind of shooting so maybe I better drop my ambitions down to 350 to 500 yards.I think I can let the zombies get that close, lol.

The story of the m1917 is pretty interesting.Contrary to popular belief the springfield m1903 was not the main battle rifle of americans in ww1.Approx 75 percent of all U.S troops were using the m1917.

Yes it is.Lots of fun for liitle cost in ammo and powder.

I have a Lyman Great Plains rifle .45, Colt 1861 3 band musket .58, T/C White Mtn rifle .50 and a T/C Patriot pistol single shot .45 We used to cast our own rounds. That was kinda fun.... Oh a 4" mortar and a custom built mini cannon .45

What does a pound of powder cost these days? I shoot Goex..

I bet MT will be along soon. you may even want to IM him.
I love the 30:06 caliber. I have 4 of them. generally I stick to leupold scopes myself.

sorry I can't help with the long range loads.

nice rifle BTW
