Hmmm. I like the concept. Take a look at the Osprey used by the Marines and the Air Force. they give a more realistic and proportional look at what the rotor/wing design would have to be to create the lift needed to get off the ground.

Their current production model (The Transition) is a two seat car/airplane. I think they've got six airframes in production at an approximate "over the curb" price of $300k each. The Transition needs a runway, though. I'm guessing they come with all the hassles of car ownership, plus all the hassles of aircraft ownership.

Not saying it's not a cool idea ... but just from the near miss incidents I have out on the lake, I'd be nervous about ATC.
