Re: What do you pull your boat with?

I have the 3800 engine same as your GP. It does labour in towing. Pete

I saw the pic of the Lucern towing a 192 and thought it was a joke at first. I have a Bonneville with a supercharged 3.8l at 280 lb/torque which is as much as some low powered V8's. It is the best performing car engine I have ever owned but I can't imagine towing with it but have wondered how it would perform it I did. I always thought is was kind of a waste of a lot of torque when my tow vehicle only has 210 lb/torque and my daily driver has 30% more. If you haven't ever owned a car with a supercharger but like performance and fuel economy, you are missing out. Reminds me of a big outboard compared to an I/O.

YIKES!!

Does any one pull with a car... or am I mentally challenged? (No comments Dad!!!)

I have an '04 Impala with the smaller 6 cyl (3.4l) and a 14ft fiberglass with a 15hp OB. Was I an idiot to put the hitch on my Chev?

I'll join ya! I pull my 14' aluminum & outboard with either an '02 Impala 3.4 or a '96 Lumina 3.1. I don't tow often, but when I do, it's about 170 miles. There's a 3-mile mountain climb at the end going one way. I just take it easy and no problems in 6 years. I have class 2 U-Haul hitches & the vehicles have 142,000 and 189,000 miles on them.

My McKee Craft 196 is towed by a 2007 BMW X5 V8. I lease the car so I'm not too worried about the transmission, etc. But needless to say this car has no problems towing anything in this weight range. In my younger days we towed a 18" outboard ski boat with a Z28 Camero and a '72 Ford Pinto.
Do you need a fancy rig to tow. No way.

Just wondering what you pull your boat with?

Typically our Alumacraft Tournament Pro is pulled behind our 5th wheel camper. Pull the whole rig with my Dodge RAM 3500 Cummins dually.

Re: What do you pull your boat with?

2004 Jeep Grand laredo 4.0 I6 to pull my 21' manatee 207vc. The jeep does great up to about 60. then it's a bit much. my trailer doesn't have brakes though and the jeep is very much able to slow her down. it is funny though to see my normal 20+ avg mpg drop to like 13 when the boat is behind it. For being a 4200LB jeep tho it's never had a problem getting in and out of the ramp. at least nothing that 4lo couldn't fix

Re: What do you pull your boat with?

kevco, were the 1500 Rams different than the 2500s? My dad has an '06 2500 and his headlights are the newer styled, which yours appear to be the older style (what I thought was 2003-2005).

06 and up has the newer larger rounded headlights. its the same for 1500 or 2500, just depends on the year. 02-05 had then smaller headlights

Ford F150 Supercrew 4x4 with the tow package pulling a Sea Ray 200 Sundeck.... Also use the F150 to pull the 20' pontoon, but that is only going into the lake in spring and out in fall.

Okay, that was my assumption, meaning his can't be a 2006 right? Sorry, just one of the things I notice, being a "car person".
