I got a 2018 F150 Lariat Crew with the 3.5 tt and the 157 wheelbase. A very nice truck and it appears to be very capable. Now I need to make myself believe I can still afford the bigger boat.

I just bought a 2015 F150 with a 2.7L twin turbo 6 cylinder and 6 speed auto transmission. It's rated to tow 8400lbs. My boat/trailer rig is 7,000-7,500lbs depending on fuel load. Its very stable, and I'm impressed. It has 375ft-lbs of torque. In tow mode, it will shift at around 3k rpm with decent acceleration, and it has no problem towing at 70mph in 6th gear. It downshifts when braking to add braking power. I get 17mpg when towing, and 24-27mpg when driving without a load on the highway.

Overall it has much better towing manners than my GMC Yukon with a 6.0L V8 and towing package. The 2.7L is small but it's got a lot of power.

My favorite topic .
1997 Ford F 350 .
5.8 gas . 351 HP Windsor engine
190 thousand miles
NO 4/4 -
Box truck not pretty work truck . .

Had a 21 ft fishing boat that towed with a 4/4 chevy blazer
.
Recently Purchased a 30 ft Regal commodore- 9.6 beam Empty 8600 lbs .
Came with a 3 axle disk brake trailer towing capacity 15200

Wife bugging me , saying why not get yourself a nice newer truck , get rid of your vette, explorer , Ford 350 . .
Did ponder briefly sure would be nice having a nice newer truck ,
Hitting used truck dealers
Beautiful Trucks , diesels luxury cabins, Expensive , 4 year old trucks, high mileage

RETIRED MAN , not wanting too spend a lot on a truck that would be used seldom
I don't work , not going too construction sites, requiring newer equipment , A truck as my daily driver ?

Made a decision, keeping the Ford F 350 ,
Brought boat too a marina .

I put a few thousand into truck . new vinyl seats / dash/ headliner/ ice cold air , mud tires ,
Truck is a beast , fixed all mechanical issues, removed the 2000 lb box that causedG wind resistance. .

Gas mileage is better , 14 mpg . Towing 9 mpg

I am a tractor trailer down highway . 52 ft front bumper too end of trailer .
I do have wide permit . $ 25.00 bucks for a year sure beats DOT $ 1000 dollar ticket

Pulling 9000 lbs up at ramp , I THINK I CAN I THINK I CAN , slowly since I have no 4/4 but once over top every is fine
.
Ford rated 11500
Just returned from towing boat 400 miles . . Handled great . What scares me all the knuckleheads on the road

Still not pretty , needs a paint job , rims would make a big difference but for that 2 times a year I might tow , no reason too spend all that USA GREEN BACKS . That buys a lot of gas for boat ( that's another topic ) .

By now this thread is old but I just bought a 2017 Regal 2300 Boat and trailer come in at 5900 pounds. Under 6500 with fuel and gear. New truck and new boat within 6 months of each other. I am done spending for a while but they look good together. The 3.5 tt and the 10 speed trans work well together. The boat has a good trailer and the combo runs down the road great.

I towed 6700 lbs with my 2004 Ford Explorer. Does that count? :noidea:

Umm.... did they decrease the rating or were you way overloaded? I have the V6 / biggest engine for 2013 and I can tow 5000 lbs and I am not sure I would want to tow 6700 lbs ever with mine

The limited has the raptor motor in it...guess Ford has extra motors going to the 7.3 gas next year. I tow my rinker at close to 10000, 5.4 3 valve, 3:73 rear end. People at the ramp drop their jaws when I pull that boat out of the water.. and 4x2.

I to have the 3.5 TT and it is a beast, a true hot rod and will pull most anything. In a Three year span I bought a new boat, new (to me) summer home with lake front and lastly a new truck.... as you said I am done for the next long while. Im on the verge of retirement and thought might as well while I still have a pay check

I hope you meant to say expedition and not explorer. I would be really scared to see an explorer towing 9600 lbs
