I have the same truck as Bruce, except mine is an XLT and not a Lariat. Just got it a few weeks ago and haven't towed yet, but I am looking forward to towing my Sea Ray about 350 miles each way to Lake Mohave next week.

Just got back from our trip. Boat, trailer, full tank of gas in the boat, plus gear probably weighed about about 4500 to 5000 lbs. I had six people in the truck , the AC on full blast, in about 115 degree temps both ways with many miles of significant inclines. I could barely tell the boat was there. I tried to keep it around 70 so as to not blow my trailer tires and found that to be difficult at times, even up hills. Could have gone as fast as I wanted. Towed at 70 up hill at around 2500 rpm. Love this truck.

The biggest Ford Truck dealer in the country is 20 miles away from me. I want a f150 crew cab with the 6.5 box 3.5 TT Lariat. I cant get one at the biggest dealer nor any others within 150 miles of Omaha. Denver area has a decent selection.

Looked at a 150 xlt sport with the v6 diesel and 10 speed tranny and 4x4 .If you see a new piece about a man found beside a truck with massive heart failure that will be me .

I am pretty sure you can't get the diesel on any trim level lower than a lariat. Maybe a Canadian thing to get it on lower trim levels?

I ended up ordering mine because I couldn't find what I wanted. I was close to getting the 6.5' box just so I could get the heavy duty payload package which isn't available on the Super Crew 5.5' box.

It might of been a higher trim level bruceb58 I looked at so many I might be confused.Im not confused about the price though 75k cnd! Being retired and poor though im actually going to look at a 2013 ford edge with the 3.5 v6 and awd.Being totally honest with myself I just don't use the back of my gas guzzler truck anymore other than to carry my atv which a trailer can do easily for the 1 month a year I use it.The edge will easily tow my ss160 with 1500 lbs to spare.

75 CDN would be cheaper than what my sticker was in real dollars! :)

There are a couple Lariat 3.0 diesels with 6.5 boxes in my area. I saw vid of the test guys that run the long grade on I70 in Colorado to test trucks. They used 7000 pound enclosed trailers. The 3.0 F150 diesel didnt fare that well.

It struggled and couldnt hold more than 40 miles per hour. Then it went into limp mode. In its defense my 2011 5.0 needs 3rd gear to hold the speed limit on part of that grade.

Went fishing out of San Diego on Saturday and I was surprised by how many F150s were towing some pretty darn big boats. Of course, I saw a bunch of diesels, but it seemed like every 3rd truck was an F150.

sounds like something was amiss if it went into a limp mode. Was chatting with my local ford dealer yesterday and I mentioned the new ranger and asked if they had pricing yet .No on pricing and they have been swamped with people wanting to get one as soon as their available.Big excitement for the bronco also.

I will know soon (when my trailer is built).
Boat is 6000 dry, so, maybe 7000 wet, trailer should be 1300, for a total of 8300.

My 2016 F150 2.7L RCSB is rated for 8500 towing. Of course payload will be reduced, but I don't have a lot to carry.

Right now I tow regularly a 5000lb open trailer without problem. Averages 18.7 L/100Km at 110 km/h.
I'm curious to see if +3300lb will handle the same. I will try to aim for a 7% tongue weight since it is a dual axle trailer.

Might be picking up a Bayliner 2655 this weekend, and would be pulling it with my 2003 5.4 Expedition, so we'll see how that goes.

I've been driving a loaner for the last few months.....2018 crewcab 4x4 with the 5.0L. My boat is only 4000# max, so pulls it no problem. Power and mpg are great. Also noticed when driving "ni that when the truck is empty, the 10 spd tranny will skip a gear here and there (in normal mode), actually supposed to. But when towing, the 10 spd goes through the gears very smoothly, hardly noticeable. With the few extra gears, it holds the rpm's better, and less drop between shifts.

I've got a 2000 Mercury Mountaineer 5.0L AWD and it pulls my overweight, waterlogged, 17ft stratos with a 90hp Evinrude like it ain't back there. I've pulled a few campers back n forth to the lake @ 65mph no prob other than a little squat

I towed 8000 with a Tundra. It did great, but drank the gas. Now that I have an F350 diesel, I am even more firmly in the "right tool for the job" camp. It is so effortless.

Yeah....I'm with you.

I tow my 87 FourWinns 211 (around 6500lbs) with my 2005 F350 4x4 dually Crewcab diesel.

When I go over Snoqualmie pass at the steepest slowest point, I just "blow" by all the F150's pulling similarly sized boats.....

Also, I have seen enough pickups and cars on the side of the road with a broken axle (and the wheel "off" )...... I also wouldn't tow or haul ANY heavy load with any truck that does NOT have full floating rear axles. You don't usually get full floating axles until 3/4HD or higher.

I have found the truck to be more than capable of towing kinda-heavy. Not 10,000lbs-heavy. My F150 is a 2014 5.0L supercrew, short bed, with the 6 speed and the tow package. Rated to 8000#-ish. It does great with my outfit. I tow my boat and trailer (23' Sportcraft Fisherman, tandem axle EZ-Loader aluminum) which when full of gas probably gets to 5500# or 6000#.

I tow it a couple times a year, about 200 miles at a time, while not in the mountains it's not flat like Kansas either. When I need to punch it, it finds the right gear and revs up (sounds awesome btw) and GOES. I use TOW/HAUL mode and consider myself a good driver and risk averse. I find it tows smoothly and rock-steady. Trailer only has surge, drum brakes.

The 3.0 diesel is only available in Lariat and above trim and costs an extra $5k to $4k or so over the base engine. You can't get the 36 gallon fuel tank(It only has 26 gallon). I personally would never get that engine. I was looking into it.

The Raptor is the only one that gets the 450HP engine. It also has miserable tow ratings.

The 450 hp ecoboost can be ordered in Limited trim now too.
