I have a friend who cracked is block last season. I found a good running 470 from an older boat. I just want to change all the external parts from his motor to the older block. Would this be possible? His boat is a 2000 and the engine I am looking at is early 90's.

The last '470' was made in 1989.... It was called a '3.7LX'...

Ok, my mistake. After talking to my friend, I found that his boat is a v6 3.7. He initially told me 4cyl so I thought it was a 470. Stupid me.

Thats what he is telling me. I haven't seen the motor. I guess I will have to look at it myself. His boat is a 2001 (not 2000) sea doo utopia.

Ok, I am in the wrong forum. It turns out it is an outboard powerhead on a jet pump. Thanks for the help.

Well after some research I am going to recommend he sells the boat and gets an I/O. That jet drive crap is expensive:eek:

It may say SeaDoo on it, but it doesn't look like a jet ski to me.
This one is an 185 bow rider. V6 210 hp Merc outboard on a jet pump.

SeaDoo got smart and started building proper boats. Seems they saw the writing on the wall for the puddle jumpers and wanted to stay in the 'boat' business. I was in one in the mid 90s... so it was even before that....

Not to hijack, just have an interesting story about these boats... My uncle has a 20' version of this boat. He took it to a seadoo dealer to get some work done and they said they don't work on them!!! Since it has merc engine/ jet, they don't mess with them. I thought that was a little odd. Its a seadoo. Anywho, he found the appropriate mechanic to fix his issue. Kinda a hybrid boat I guess. I told my uncle he needs to buy my Stingray in my sig :)
