Yamaha LS2000 Jet Boat Throttle Issues

I recently purchased a used Yamaha jet boat and the (2) throttles go back to trolling speed if I do not hold them up. This is my first jet boat and was wondering if this is the way they work. I have only owned outboards and the throttle stays wherever I put it. I asked a Yamaha dealer and he told me it was the way they are for safety reasons, so the boat doesn't go out of control if something happens to the driver. I thought that was why there is a kill switch. I want to use it for skiing, kneeboarding and such. It seems to me it would be hard to keep a consistant speed to do so. If anyone has any advice I would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

your dealer is full of crap! best advice is to join www.yamahajetboaters.com
there is an adjustment in the controll box for tension,, but the yamaha board is your best bet for all your yamaha questions. you have to join but it costs nothing to do that.

Thanks, I figured that! It just seemed pretty wierd that I would have to hold the throttles all the time!
