1997 tigershark 770 no spark on one cylinder

tried another spark plug and checked connections on coil and area. what is the most probable cause a coil or cdi? how do I check the coil and the cdi. the coil has two spark plug leads coming out of it. do both cylinders spark at the same time.

cut back the spark plug wire a little and try it
do compression check

Thanks I was going to try new ignition leads and compression is good.
