Will only run at 8 mph (4k RPM). Has good compression and spark in both clinders. Plugs are clean and no apprent blockages or debris in jet.

What to look at next. Would like to avoid taking carbs apart. Plan on trying new fuel filter and plugs though don't think these could be the problem. Problem began with the engine misfring. Had to reduce speed for a speed zone and never regained power.

Any ideas?

look for an exhaust leak inside the hull, run with the seat off to allow air in and see if it runs better ,also do a compression check.

Bypassed the fuel selector switch to eliminate that. Also cleaned the fuel filter. Fuel filter was full of debris. Took it out and still not better. Trying to get the carbs off now. Have all 4 bolts out, but not coming loose from the intake manifold. Any tricks to this?

someone may have used gasket cement, tap on the carbs with small rubber mallet see if they come loose.
