We just overhauled the engine [new pistons, rings and piston rods] and installed a new ignition coil. It ran like new Fri and then flooded the engine compartment. We took carburator off and dried it out and the fuel pump and sucked anyy water out of crankcase thru carb crankacase intakes.

Engine cranks right up and runs on #2 cylinder with no spark plug in no 1. But can't get no. 1 to fire without a plug in no 2. Good compression both cylinders.....used both spark plug wires on no 2 and both work fine. And tried spark plug that works in no 2.

Just can't get no 1 to fire. Excellent spark out of both plug connectors. we dried ouyt the ignition module too.

Anyone have any Ideas?...its a single carb.

I believe that is a 2 coil system. Sounds like you burnt your no. 1 coil out.

It has one primary coil and one ignition [secodary] coil. The coil fires both spark plugs each time it fires either plug, but only one cylinder is ready to fire.

In other words....each time a cylinder is up to fire...both plugs get spark and both plugs and wires work in no 2.
