I've "inherited" a 1996 Boston Whaler Rage 15. While I'm not a new boater, I am new to jet drives. For those unfamiliar, the Rage was BW's attempt to enter the jet boat market and it didn't go well for several reasons. Regardless, this one is powered by an OMC TutboJet 115 hp motor. The issue is that I can't get it over 3,000 RPMs. It'll run all day at 3K (which isn't enough to get up on plane) but as soon as you push the throttle past 3K the engine seems to lose power and drops to 2000 RPMs. The previous owner says that the problem appeared immediately after he went aground on a sandbar. I can't seem to find any problems with the engine. Could it be in the jet drive itself? Thanks in advance for any insights.

Do a compression test on that crossflow engine.----That is the #1 step in trouble shooting..
