25 ft wellcraft, 350 merc IO we go out fishing 25 miles, speed not a real issue. No hole shots or water sking. Boat never overloaded. 3 or 4 blade ?
thanks

What's the issue about sticking with your actual prop, you don't like your actual performance ? You should change prop if having poor performance or wanting an engine/boat optimization, other than that you're throwing $$$ down the drain guessing if 4 blade would be the correct prop to go for.

Tell us about your present overall performance.
Get us the prop size, wot rpm and gps speed lightly loaded.
What would you like to accomplish?

Well the boat came with a new 4 blade prop from the other owner and I noticed that almost all the other boats in the marina on the same idea as mine have 3 blade, that was the reason for the question

so you dont have an issue with performance, only knowing that your boat has 4 blades and others have 3?

From the stickies at the top of the forum page

ESSENTIAL DATA REQUIRED
When posting a question about propellers, you cannot get a reasonable answer unless you provide the following information in your post: Items 1-4 are essential for meaningful response to most questions.
1) Performance issue you are trying to correct.
2) Current prop manufacturer, model, aluminum or stainless as a minimum.
3) Current prop diameter and pitch (required).
4) Wide open throttle RPM and speed with an average load (very helpful)
5) Engine/drive make, model, year, and HP
6) Boat make model, year, length and weight

From the list, you have 3/4 of item 6)

Very basically the 4 blade "should" improve hole shot, stay on plane easier at reduced throttle and respond better around the dock.
Not worried about hole shot, but a quicker hole shot saves fuel.Probably couldn't measure the difference.
