i found this prop on ebay and i want to be sure that it will fit before i buy it.. i have a 63 gale 40hp and the boat is a 13.5' fiberglass vee and my next question do you think this motor has enough power to use this big of a pitch prop i know it will cut down on the take off power but im looking for more top speed im toping out at around 25mph the prop im currently using is 12x11.5

the main thing rather than speed to be concerned with, is : what rpms is the engine turning at wide open throttle. you some be turning 4500 rpms, with that engine. you adjust the prop and the engine height, and trim until you reach that optimum spot. if you don't have a tach, you can use a timing light with the tach option clipped to one of the plug wires. i don't think you engine will ever turn that prop correctly, and you will end up damaging the engine by over working it. here are the recommend props for your motor: http://www.boat-props.com/propeller..._id=43&**********=597087724&*******=924879740

Nis, That prop is 3 1/2 "sizes" larger than the prop you have. Unless you are severly underpropped, it will have too much pitch for your application. Each 2" of pitch will drop the RPMs about 400. This prop will therefore drop your RPMs by 700. Unless you are turning 6200RPM plus, I think it will lug your motor.
