I recently purchased a new to me boat and have been out of boating for a long time, my question is, is my prop to small?
The boat is a 1994 rinker 236 open bow with a 350 magnum and alpha drive. It gets on plane great cruises fine but if I get above 4000 rpm the prop blows out. At @3800/3900 rpm trimmed to where everything feels and sounds smooth it runs 44 mph on gps but I can’t give it any more throttle.

You mean it suddenly loses its grip? How high are you trimming out? What condition is the Prop in, bent blades, flattened Leading Edges, pieces of the blade missing? Any dings in the gearcase? Damaged Skeg? What Prop are you running?

Yes it suddenly loses grip. Not trimming very high according to the gauge somewhere between 1/4 and 1/2 and the wake behind the boat appears normal no rooster rail. The prop has a few small nicks but nothing bad at all. The outdrive isn’t damaged at all. And sorry I meant to put in my other post 14 1/4 x 20 3 blade stainless I can’t remember the brand off of the top of my head.

Try keeping it trimmed further down and see if the prop 'blows out' . also, see if you can get any part numbers or other markings from the prop.
