stratos 219F 1997 175 hp intruder with kiker 15 hp (90pds) trophy plus 21P = 54 mph at 5800 gps 5" PTP great holeshot
[h=2]need to remove the intruder for tilt bushing repair this winter and got a trophy plus 23p so should i raise it to top hole wich will be 4 1/4" PTP to try the 23 next summer or leave it at 5"? installing a jackplate is not possible with the cable steering because of transom shape ( motor is 9 inches lower than sides of transom !not a bass boat configuration and would need hydraulic steering to use JP )[/h]

How about a pic from the side, with the engine down, taken with the camera LEVEL at the height of the boat bottom. One more thing, no close up wide angle lens shot.

Your close with the rpms,..

Although you might get a bit more if you try it,...

I know guys that ran those in the day that were getting mid 60's out of them,...

Saw one with a 200ficht on it tht got into the 70's,..

Great old boat,

If you’ve got the means to raise it, then raise it, one hole at a time. Keep an eye on your temp gauge.

Maybe try a 4 blade 21pith,...

Should drop the rpms some, And give you even better holeshot
and control,..

You need to play with hole heights whether raising or lowering the OB till this cond is fully met. Check pics. This is the ideal Sweet OB/Transom height Spot for any combo in which the prop achieves its max thrust.

See if you can try it out. It's a matter of matching outgoing middle hull hardened water flow whichever shape is it to skim right under small upper plate. Once there report max wot rpm achieved.

Happy Boating

I'm sorry, but you are sadly mistaken by a long shot. Water flow should be just under the av plate. That's the bottom plate, not the top plate. Look at your first picture, and see the spray coming way out to the side. That engine is mounted way to low and they are losing at least 10% in speed and fuel economy. And the second photo is just wrong.

Hi. Although in any boat terms, 54 mph is quick...I must admit, I would have thought this set up would be capable of a good 10mph quicker easily. Engine ok ?

comp ok but still under 100 and with speed prop probably go faster if trophy 23 works should be faster at lower rpm but 4 blade trphy not best prop for speed but i like overall

Not totally familiar with your engine, more mercury and Yamaha I’ve had, but I’d think less than 100psi on any 2 stroke of similar type is on or over the edge of what is seen as acceptable ?
just a thought.

That’s fair enough. I suppose there can be variance too with these tests. Gauges, calibration and temp of engine etc.
Anyway, I’m just going on not only what I see bass boats like this perform like with moderate HP, but also by my own experience in former boats. We don’t see many bass boats in the UK, but we do get lightweight fast hulls like ring and phantom. I had a ring 18 of similar weight. She had a 200 then a 150 on her. Both engines saw well into the 60’s and the former even around 70mph. I’d have thought yours would be well into the 60’s with a good 3 blade 23/25”.
