I recently purchased a 2013 South Bay Tritoon with a 115 Yamaha. I would like to reprop to go to stainless and also bring the rpm of 6150 25 mph down to something more in the 5800 range and perhaps a few more mph. Thing is, I can find no markings of any kind on this prop telling me size/pitch. How do I identify? Its all white and I assume its aluminum.

After further review, I found 3 stampings, 1 on each of the spokes on inner hub. They are:

6E5
15K
Y-3

Any idea what they mean?

Myself, I wouldn't spend the money to go stainless unless I was working with something that has maybe twice that horsepower. It's very difficult to justify the change to stainless with these mid range engines - unless you're just looking for some expensive "bling"?.

What I would do is to send that prop to a repair shop with your request to drop the rpm's a little. I'm betting that could be done easily with just additional cupping. The next size up from that prop is a 17", and I think you might be disappointed there as it will drop the rpm too much, causing it to feel doggy, like you're taking off in overdrive or something.

Is the 6150 you're turning now lightly loaded, or is it able to turn that with a more normal load (like 4 people or similar)?

Would that be a normal load, or do you generally run heavier? I ask, as if the only time you over rev is lightly loaded, which doesn't happen frequently, that 6150 is likely fine, giving you the best performance/acceleration possible. As far as that goes, how often will you want to run at wide open throttle while lightly loaded?

My point is our 90hp Honda is set the same way. With just me on the boat, it turns up 6100. That's fine here, as the number of occasions I find the urge to run wide open with just me for a load is pretty limited. The rest of the time, with more typical loads, it's fine....

That's our normal load. We usually go meet up with other boaters and either raft up or beach. I was just trying to get the ability to get closer to 30 mph

My bet is, with some messing around/experimenting, best case is you'll match that speed at a little lower rpm. If you want to go faster, lighten the boat. Do away with everything non essential. See if your rpms come up high enough to justify the next size bigger prop at that point..

I get the "too old", trust me!

Purely for the sake of conversation, I'm not sure how much difference in mileage you're going to see at 5500 vs. 6100 for instance. It's more about how much power you are using to do what you want to do. If you are using 115hp to run 25mph, the engine's not going to care much whether 5500 or 6100.

At WOT, it's going to use about 1 gallon per hr for every 10hp, or something close to 11.5 gph with the numbers here. My thought is the best you can do for WOT efficiency is to get max speed for your fuel usage.
