Hello, my new (to me) pontoon boat has a hard top, aboud 10' x 8'
Problem is, its just framing.

Do most have a metal top? Or fabric?
What do you guy do to repair your top?
Rivets and siding?

After having a fabric top for many years, and replacing the fabrics regularly, I graduated to a metal one (what I call a hard top). It's holding up very well, even when exposed to SE Michigan winters completely unprotected.

I have never had occasion to repair any part of either type - dating back to the mid 1970's. Well, that's not completely true, but it involved repairs required after a collision with a drunk after dark.

I place a high value on shade. When i rehabbed my old pontoon boat, I first went with a very large canvas top. A year later it was severely damaged by a thunderstorm. I replaced it with the 8'x16' flat metal top you see above. It is supported by three vertical tubes on each side. They are designed to allow the top to fold forward and down for extended trailering. The top is made of four 4'x8' corrugated aluminum panels on a frame of aluminum angle. I've used it this way for four years with no problems.
